Our Process

Our standard process for water well drilling and related services follows Minnesota state rules and regulations to ensure safe, compliant construction and reliable groundwater access. At Marcus Well Drilling Inc., we guide you through every step with licensed expertise, proper notifications, and high-quality workmanship. Here’s a high-level overview of the typical process for a new water well (including pump installation and initial testing).

01. Site Evaluation and Permitting

We begin with a thorough site assessment to select the optimal location, considering geology, water table depth, and required isolation distances from potential contamination sources (like septic systems or livestock areas) per MDH rules. A Well Construction Notification form is submitted to the MDH (or a delegated local program) along with the required fee. Once approved, drilling can proceed—ensuring full compliance before any ground is broken.

02. Drilling and Well Construction

Using advanced rotary or cable tool methods suited to Minnesota’s soils and bedrock, we drill to the necessary depth to reach a productive aquifer. Steel casing is installed and grouted to protect the borehole, prevent collapse, and seal off surface contaminants. The well is then developed through techniques like surging or air-lifting to clear debris and improve flow.

03. Pump Installation, Development, and Testing

A suitable submersible or jet pump is installed, along with pressure tanks, wiring, and connections. The well undergoes development to maximize yield and water quality. We conduct flow and yield tests, followed by water sampling sent to an MDH-certified lab for bacteria, nitrates, arsenic, and other parameters.

04. Final Documentation and Startup

Upon successful testing and cleanup, we submit the completed Well and Boring Construction Record to the MDH and provide you with copies, lab results, and maintenance recommendations. Your system is fully operational, delivering clean, reliable water—backed by our warranties and ongoing support for inspections, repairs, or future services.
